Network Administrator/Engineer

We are looking for a  Network Administrator to handle the planning, engineering, and day-to-day operations of the organization's network and voice infrastructure. This person will be responsible for ensuring proper management and support for core infrastructure technologies, including but not limited to core network infrastructure, WiFi network, LAN/WAN/SDN and voice/telephony systems. As the company is highly leveraged on cloud technologies, in depth knowledge and expertise on maximizing uptime and internet connectivity availability is key. This position reports into the Head of Information Security and Technology Strategy. 

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Expert level experience in IT network administration/engineering supporting 500 or more users in a corporate environment 

  • Advanced knowledge of core networking technologies including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, managed switches, software defined networking, voice over IP, and wireless networking. 

  • Experience with VOIP telecom system management and interfaces 

  • Experience managing/optimizing networks for Office 365 hosted Exchange and other cloud services 

  • Solid experience with Microsoft Active Directory (AD & Azure AD Premium), IIS, server configurations 

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Server (2012/2008) /desktop Operating Systems (Windows 10 & MacOS) (required) with VB Scripting for login scripts and other basic tasks 

  • Working knowledge of VMware and cloud-hosted PaaS and IaaS  

  • Knowledgeable in cyber security threats and prevention strategies. 

  • Strong analytical, leadership, problem solving, organizational, and planning skills. 

  • Uses sound judgment when making decisions and dealing with others 

  • Ability to accept direction and developmental guidance from supervisor 

  • Ability to work with individuals at all levels. 

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain network devices and connectivity between corporate offices. 

  • Ensure the corporate network is secure by performing regular monitoring of system logs and system traffic to identify anomalies.  

  • Conduct regular tests of company’s information security controls for weaknesses or vulnerabilities 

  • Develop and document procedures and proactively manage and maintain network systems 

  • Design and implement monitoring, configuration management and reporting functions 

  • Define and document best practices and support procedures 

  • Provide occasional after-hours support for Infrastructure related emergencies as well occasional weekend maintenance actions 

  • Maintain asset inventory and configuration documentation 

  • Assist with hardware, firewall, telecom and software vendor evaluation, recommendation and negotiations 

  • Ability to work overtime/extended hours as required 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent experience  

  • Fortinet firewalls and related security suite of products 

  • Aruba wired and wireless network equipment and management systems 

  • Microsoft Cloud Platform (Azure, Office 365, Azure AD Premium) 

  • Experience with security vulnerability scanning tools and SIEMs, Splunk experience a plus. 

  • Experience managing and supporting VOIP telecom systems, Avaya experience a plus 

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Server (2012/2008) /desktop Operating Systems (Windows 10 and MacOS) 

  • Active Directory/LDAP user and group administration 

  • Expert experience and understanding of LAN/WAN networking protocols and technologies 

  • Experience with system and network performance monitoring and reporting tools 

  • Ability to assist in troubleshooting network issues including back bone infrastructure issues 

  • LAN/Wifi Routing and Switching troubleshooting (VLANs, IP Sub netting, 802.1Q trunks) 

  • Experience managing deployments/rollouts 

  • Experience managing server virtualization technologies such as VMWare Server/ESX or Microsoft HyperV/Virtual Server 

  • Solid experience with implementing Information Security/Assurance procedures and technologies 

  • Flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment 

  • Must be organized and have the ability to manage projects of varying length 

  • Positive, self-motivated individual who can complete tasks independently 

  • Must be a team player
