Accounts Payable Payments Clerk – Bilingual french canadian

The Bilingual Accounts Payable Clerk must be proficient in English and French-Canadian languages (no Creole French) and is responsible for supporting timely and accurate payments for the obligations of our company and its business divisions. The primary responsibility is to administer and maintain the accounts payable function in an efficient and effective manner.
The Accounts Payable Specialist will be accountable to the VP of Finance.

  • Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment submission
  • Generate check batches for approval and upload to 3rd party check paying portal
  • Assist with invoice data entry and research into A/P ERP system
  • Prioritize invoices according to cash discount potential and payment terms
  • Process check requests
  • Match invoices to checks
  • Respond to all vendor inquiries, as needed
  • Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies
  • Assist in month end closing
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
  • Filing of paid and unpaid invoices
  • Ability to archive historical records and lift and move up to 25 lbs. of boxed records
  • Assist with other projects as needed
  • 7 to 10 years of Accounts Payable experience required in high volume environment
  • Must be proficient in English and French-Canadian languages (no Creole French)
  • Fluent in both oral and written French skills required
  • High school diploma required, college courses in accounting preferred
  • Must have strong work ethics
  • Proficient in Excel and Word, 10-key by touch, Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) 13 experience a plus
  • Ability to type 60-65 wpm
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division quickly and accurately
