The Buyer III has the authority to purchase at the best value consistent with quality, quantity, delivery and other factors, raw materials, components, equipment, machinery and/or supplies for the operation of the firm. Selects supply sources and has considerable latitude in determining acceptable price. Materials purchased are generally processed, consumed or used in the firm and are not purchased for direct resale.
Ideal candidate will have 5-7 years direct experience with supplier management in a DoD/FAR environment, analyzing quotes, negotiating and creating purchase orders. Strong experience with engineering drawings, quoting, machined parts, castings, sheet metal. Working knowledge of FAR/DFAR regulations is desired as well as experience in managing deliveries and using sound purchasing practices. MRP/ERP experience helpful.
Formal training in military/aerospace manufacturing environment. CPSM and/or C.P.M. certification desired. Military and/or DoD (FAR/DFAR) experience desired. Experience in developing and maintaining procurement procedures desired. Requires strong sense of initiative, creativity and ability to prioritize. Requires strong oral and written communication/ presentation skills. Ability to create reports and business correspondence. Will be required to interact effectively with all levels of management, multiple departments and suppliers, at times in suppliers’ facilities. Professional demeanor required. Must have the ability to function effectively in subcontractors’ facilities. Professionalism required. Will be required to travel up to 25% (mostly local). Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school and 5 to 7 years related experience and/or training. BS/BA preferred.
Fluent in MS Word and Excel required.
Knowledgeable in Internet and e-mail use.
Data entry, system inquiries and reports.
